I have been going out to Lake Monticello for several weeks now at sunrise. It is amazing the difference in the sky and atmosphere from day to day. The early morning time is so peaceful. It is a time to my self but could enjoy it with my wife or a friend. A cool breeze, the songs of birds in the air, maybe the faint sound of turkeys in the distance. It is difficult to get out of bed that early and it is not fun being the fuddy dud that goes to bed early to make up for it. But it is worth it.
Tell me, when was the last time you saw the sunrise. Where was it? Did you share it with someone? What comes to mind when you think about it. If you can’t remember, I challenge you to start one day next week watching the sunrise and let me know how it goes.
Omigosh… You found your keyboard and your blog in the same week?
Being a bass fisherman, I have enjoyed the beauty of many sunrises on Lake Monticello. The only thing equal to them are the sunsets! It is then that I often
times lay down my rod and reel just to soak in these beautiful masterpieces that God has painted for us and say “God…..you done good!!”
Now that the sun rises early, I see the sun coming up every morning. I should stop to enjoy it more, though.
I see the sunrise every day, except when it is too cloudy, which is pretty often.
My boys and I used to sit on the front porch and watch the sun rise down Union Street. From one of my son’s room I could wake him up in the morning by saying, “Wow, look at the sunrise” We used to love to snuggle and chear when it came up.
As a child I would sail in the Great Lakes with my father, sleeping on the boat. I will never forget sitting in the cockpit with a blanket, smelling his coffee, and watching the sun rise over Canada. There is no better, more peaceful time in the day.
Sunrise is absolutely my favorite time. I’ll take them any day and any season. With the First Baptist building, I just realized I will loose my view of the sunrise and it is a shame. When I die I hope to be watching the sun rise.
The first time , in a long time, I saw the sunrise recently was at Shady Grove’s Easter sunrise service. My boys were amazingly eager to attend and woke up easily at 5:00 AM. After a short service we all looked out to the east and quietly watched the sun rise. Amazingly, all 3 of my boys watched quietly. It was then I thought about the significance of the Son Rise.
Although not as often as I would like, I have gotten up early several times since then to read the Bible and watch God’s reminder of the Gift He gave us.
Sunrise! Sunset! Both amaze me! This past Friday morning, while traveling from Montrose to Pine Bluff, I could not stop looking at the sunrise! It is truly amazing to me to think that God created this, and the moon, to give light to our world. As I was thanking God for this beautiful sunrise I also thanked him for giving me eyes to see this beauty. We all take too much of God’s creation for granted. After reading your message I have decided to try and catch the sunrise more often; it sure reminds me that God loves all of us so very much to bless us with such beauty!!!
